One of the more popular brands of frozen dinners, Hungry-Man, is being recalled over fears of possible salmonella contamination, according to officials.

  • Hungry-Man frozen dinner in question shipped to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Virginia
  • No confirmed reports of any salmonella illness
  • Recalled meal is Hungry Man Chipotle BBQ sauced boneless chicken wings

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a health alert over concerns that a Hungry-Man frozen dinner may be contaminated with salmonella from whey powder.

The dinner that is being recalled is:

  • 15.25-oz. individual frozen microwavable dinners with "HUNGRY MAN CHIPOTLE BBQ SAUCED BONELESS CHICKEN WYNGZ" printed on the label and bearing a best buy date of 9/6/19.

The frozen meal has establishment number "EST. P138" or "P-138" on the side of the box and the frozen meals were shipped to retail locations in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Virginia, warned FSIS.

Pinnacle Foods, Inc., the owner of Hungry-Man, was alerted to the possible contamination from its supplier, according to FSIS.

Salmonella's most common symptoms are abdominal cramps, fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated food and diarrhea.

However, FSIS pointed out that there have been no confirmed reports of any illness related to the Hungry-Man meals.
