Amy Sweezey joined Spectrum News 13 as a freelance meteorologist in November 2021.

She is a broadcast meteorologist, children's book author, multimedia reporter & producer, and mom of three. For more than 25 years, Amy has delivered forecasts on television in the Midwest and Florida. 

She graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University Chicago before continuing her meteorological studies at Mississippi State University. Amy holds the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal, awarded by the American Meteorological Society, along with the National Weather Association Broadcast Seal of Approval. 

She is a proud recipient of multiple “Best Weathercast” and “Best Weather Reporting” awards from the Florida Associated Press, and in 2018, the National Weather Association named Amy "Broadcaster of the Year."

Amy has authored two children’s books about weather and created two weather activity books for K-2 and 3rd-5th grades. Her "Let’s Talk Weather: TV Forecasting: Behind the Scenes" was selected as a gold medalist in the 2018 Florida Authors and Publishers Association President’s Awards and her "It Never, Ever Snows in Florida" won Gold in 2020. 

Amy lives in Central Florida with her husband and three children. She freelances for multiple media companies based in the Orlando area.
