BRIGHTON, N.Y. — The news that high-risk winter sports can play competitive games is good news for those in the local hockey community.

Officials at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex say they were excited when they heard the news. Due to the pandemic, they've only been allowed to have practices. They are hoping to have games played again in February.

"I can speak to hockey. This is something that hockey players and families and venues like us, we've been waiting for quite some time," said Chris Woodworth, Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex general manager.

Youth organizations are in the process of working on scheduling games, so a season can be played.
