ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Baden Street Settlement is celebrating a major milestone.

The resource center has now been open for 120 years.

The center held a drive-by celebration at the park on Upper Falls Boulevard.

Organizers say the settlement has meant different things to the community over the years.

"Right now, what the community needs is the services we provide, everything from emergency family assistance, daycare, pre-K," said Baden Street Settlement executive director Michael Marsh. "We also have counseling centers and activities for youth in the community. So everything the community needs."

It was 1901 when the center first opened as an effort to help Eastern European immigrants adapt to life in the United States.
