URMC and non-profit Strollin' for the Colon teamed up Friday to raise awareness for colon cancer.

While all of March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Day, Friday was Dress in Blue Day, where people wear blue in honor of those affected by colon cancer.

A professor says colon cancer is  preventable.

"Colon cancer is the second-leading cancer killer in the United States, but that should not be," said Dr. Danielle Marino, URMC. "It is largely preventable with screening. So, I just urge everyone to talk to their family. Find out about your family history because if you have one, you may need to get screened sooner."
