GENEVA N.Y. -- Dr. Gregory J. Vincent was recognized Friday as newest president of Hobart and William Smith Colleges during an installation ceremony held at the Trinity Church.

An alumnus from the Class of 1983, Vincent has dedicated his life to creating and providing opportunities that ensure the success of students, according to Board of Trustees member Thomas Bozzuto.

"We know that the best kind of education to prepare students for careers, finance and entrepreneurship is one that pushes the students to think about the world from multiple perspectives and today our students compete for internships and jobs at top firms on Wall Street and Silicon Valley," said Vincent, during his address to the audience.

Vincent has gained national expertise on civil rights, social justice and campus culture; he is also recognized for prior experience serving in leadership roles at the University of Texas at Austin.

Following the processional, Dr. Vincent, recognized as the 27th president of Hobart and the 16th of William Smith, says he is looking forward to future success from both the colleges and students.

"To all of you, I pledge my loyalty to our mission. I do so in recognition of all who have come before me and with high expectations for the future. It is an honor to serve as president and to be back home, thank you," concluded Vincent.

Vincent's first day as president was July 17.
