ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Rochester police are investigating the death of a child Saturday night on the city's north side.

Officers were called to a home on Skylane Drive for the report of an unresponsive child just before 11 p.m.

Police say a 4-year-old girl was taken to Rochester General Hospital where she was pronounced dead almost an hour later.

Police say the preliminary investigation shows this appears to be a medical issue, but due to her age, Major Crimes and a member of child protective services are investigating.

An autopsy will determine her cause of death.

Police say the child was visiting the location with her mother at the time.
