ROCHESTER N.Y. – Kids were out and about at one of 32 “PlayROCs Your Neighborhood” safe spaces spread through the city of Rochester.

“We play together and get to know each other, “said 12-year-old Ny’ionna Smith, who attends Rochester Prep.

She says the space outside James Dobson Apartments is evidence of a job well done. “They’re not just focusing on one person they are focusing on us becoming one and being one community.”

The goal of the program is to ensure a safe space for children to play, eat some healthy snacks and get fit.

The tradition began 3 years ago and organizers say it will continue to grow every year.
