A new four-legged deputy was welcomed to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.

Doyle is the Jail Bureau's first narcotics canine. He was donated to the sheriff's office thanks to Rochester area Crime Stoppers and Doyle Security.

His handler says Doyle has already made an impact.

"This is a great tool for the jail. He's a great dog and he's going to do a lot of great things here," said Deputy Robert Vetere. "He's already made five arrests and has only been on the job a little over a month now, so that's awesome."

Sheriff Todd Baxter says Doyle will work five days a week at both the jail facility in downtown Rochester and the facility on Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road. He'll be stationed at the visitors center, preforming sweeps inside the jail and along the outside.
