IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Oktoberfest in September? It might seem unusual, but for staff at Irondequoit Brewing Company, it’s perfect timing.

"Traditionally Oktoberfest is held in September," explains General Manager Leslie DiCesare.

Head Brewer Nate Kester got the idea after hearing the town of Irondequoit wasn’t having their annual Oktoberfest event. Working with the other brewers, he created two new German inspired beers.

"We said, 'why don’t we do an Oktoberfest? So we set some kegs aside," said Kester.

Behind the brewery, traditional German food was cooking. Employees grilled up sausage and served it up with Sauerkraut.

"Everyone is really excited to be outside, enjoying each other’s company, enjoying good beer," said DiCesare.

The turnout was so strong for Oktoberfest, the brewery ran out of the new beers brewed for the event.
