ROCHESTER, N.Y. — There's a new place for seniors in Rochester.

The YMCA and the United Way have opened a senior resource center at the YMCA branch in the city's 19th Ward. The goal is to provide new programming that will make older members feel less isolated.

"It's a natural fit," said George Romell, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Rochester. "Socialization, learning, fellowship and also health and wellness. Obviously, social determinants of health tell us that seniors need all of those things to remain healthy and active and vibrant. So you hear it here and it's very exciting to come to life."

Foodlink and Lifespan are also partnering in the senior resource center.
