ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Foodlink, in partnership with local community organizations, has added five new distribution centers to provide assistance to low-income families who have been affected by the recent decrease in SNAP benefits.

Due to the ending of emergency pandemic funds, eligible households will see a decrease of about $95 per month in SNAP benefits.

What You Need To Know

  • Foodlink and local community partners added 5 extra distribution centers this month to help low-income families affected by the recent decrease in SNAP benefits

  • Eligible households will see a decrease of about $95/month in SNAP benefits due to the end of emergency allotment funds

  • Foodlink is looking to feed about 1500 people between all the locations and all people have to do is register online before showing up

While the organization understands that these new distribution centers won't make up the difference, they are committed to helping as many people as possible.

"We know these five distribution centers won't make up that difference," said Mark Dwyer, director of marketing and communication. "It certainly cannot make up for the fact that $10 million are now being cut from SNAP for households in Monroe County."

The aim is to feed around 1,500 people through all the locations and all people have to do is register online before showing up. Three out of the five SNAP distributions for March have already been filled, but there is still availability for Monroe County DHS on March 25 and the Rochester City School District's Jefferson Campus on March 31.

Registrations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. To register for a distribution event, visit www.FoodlinkNY.org/FindFood or call (585) 471-7340.
