Curfew To Remain in Effect Sunday Night in Rochester

A curfew has been extended in Rochester following a night of unrest as some protests led to vandalism and looting in the city.

The curfew will begin Sunday at 9:00 p.m. and extend to 7:00 a.m. Monday.

Saturday evening, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello declared a state of emergency in the county, which included a curfew from 9:00 p.m. Saturday to 7:00 a.m. Sunday.

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and city officials are managing a community recovery and cleanup effort Sunday following the events from Saturday night.

The Rochester Fire Department, Department of Environmental Services and Neighborhood and Business Development are assessing the damage from last night, according to the city.

The city is also “engaging resources and outside contractors to secure buildings, remove trash and debris, and ensure the safety of our community’s buildings and infrastructure.”

The city is encouraging residents to visit Frontier Field VIP parking lot beginning at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

The city will provide garbage bags, PPE, and other cleaning materials to encourage residents to help cleanup areas.
