ONTARIO, N.Y. — Authorities say a Wayne Central School District employee is facing charges after being involved in a confrontation that ended with a school lockdown and a sheriff's deputy being injured.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says the 19-year-old from Walworth is facing assault and weapon possession charges.

The teen allegedly brought a knife to the Wayne Central Middle School. According to investigators, he brandished the knife at staff members after an altercation. That's when they say the deputy, who was serving as a school resource officer, stepped in. The deputy was injured when the teen allegedly resisted arrest.

The sheriff's office says all schools in the district were place on lockdown, but no students were involved or injured during the incident.

The deputy was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say teen was taken to the Wayne County Jail.
