A body recovered from Lake Ontario Sunday in the area where a person was reported missing on Saturday has been identified, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office announced Monday.

The drowning victim, Ali Afari, 26, Rochester, was identified by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The MCSO Marine Unit, along with the MCSO SCUBA Unit, RPD SCUBA and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, recovered the body at around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies say they received a call shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday for a person who entered the water from a boat about a quarter mile north of Irondequoit Bay. That swimmer did not resurface.
