AUSTIN, Texas — On Sunday, the State Capitol was lit up in purple in recognition of National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Week this week.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network set a goal to double the survival rate of Pancreatic Cancer from 6 to 12 percent by 2020. Today, with the help of their work, that rate sits at 9 percent.

November is National Pancreatic Cancer Month, and Thursday is World Pancreatic Cancer Day.

Organizers are encouraging people to wear purple to show their support.
