SAN ANTONIO – While the Villanova Wildcats walk away from the Alamo City as NCAA National Champions, locally, the City of San Antonio also scored big.

Local NCAA organizers estimate visitors dropped around $185 million during the Final Four. Most of that money is funneled into the local economy.

In the last week, restaurants, hotels, bars, and shops reaped the benefits.

In 2014, the San Antonio Sports Commission won the bid to bring the NCAA money making machine to town. The City of San Antonio, University of Texas at San Antonio and Visit San Antonio all contributed to the bid.

While the Sports Commission is still counting all of the money that poured into the local and regional economy this year, organizers said they are playing long ball, to do it all over again.

"Right now we're bidding on the next round of Final Fours for 2025 or 26. So this is the long process," said Mary Ullman Japhet Final Four Organizing Committee.

On Monday night 67,000 people paid to watch the title game inside the Alamodome.

Over the course of the Final Four, a total of 93,000 people came to San Antonio --spending money-- as they enjoyed the theater of NCAA basketball.
