AUSTIN, Texas -- Republicans are still in control in Texas, but Democrats made significant gains in the 2018 midterm elections.

Now, that's got many high-quality candidates considering running for office in 2020. Big money has already been committed to help Democrats flip more seats -- both in Congress and at the State Capitol.

But Republicans are readying their own attacks in order to keep Texas red.

“I think Texas is very much in play in 2020 and I think more than ever it’s exciting because it gives us a chance to really make our case,” said Stacy Hock, the newly-seated victory chair of the Republican Party of Texas.

Hock’s job is to help elect Republicans up and down the ballot in the general election.
