TEXAS – More than 80 Airbnb listings in Texas were recently suspended after the company says they were allowing guests to host house parties.

In 2019, Airbnb created a global ban on house parties and set up a 24/7 hotline where neighbors can report rentals that are violating the policy.

The company says since then it has received reports of violations across the state, which directly contributed to many of the suspensions.

It says those that were suspended had received previous warnings but continued to violate the no-party policy.

“The vast majority of hosts in Texas contribute positively to their neighborhoods and economy, and they also take important steps to prevent unauthorized parties - like establishing clear house rules, quiet hours, and communicating in advance with their guests,” read a news release from the company. “Our actions today address the small minority of hosts who have previously received warnings about hosting responsibly or have otherwise violated our policies.”

Airbnb is not releasing the addresses of the now-banned properties citing privacy concerns, but did release a list of cities where the listings were located. Those include: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Fredericksburg, San Antonio, Uvalde, and Wimberly, among others.

The company says it has also changed its policies in the last year to make it harder for people to host unauthorized parties. For example, it put measures in place that don’t allow people under the age of 25 to book a listing in their home cities for a single night.
