TEXAS — While much of the country has moved on, numbers reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services show COVID-19 is ticking back up in parts of the state.

Texas on Sunday reported 5,069 new confirmed cases of the virus as well as 1,433 new probable cases. Two additional fatalities attributed to the disease were reported.

As of Sunday, 1,504 Texans are hospitalized with COVID. Of those hospitalized, 253 are in intensive care and 86 are pediatric patients.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control now has Bexar, Caldwell, Travis, Fort Bend, Harris, Brazoria and Hays counties at “Medium” risk. Most Texas counties remain at “Low” COVID risk, but Hidalgo County in South Texas as of Monday is listed in the “High” risk category.
