Casa Belvedere received a $35,000 grant from the City Landmarks Preservation. The Italianate, neo-Renaissance house dates back to 1908 and was the scene for a number of women's suffrage events. However the house needs a paint job on the original 13 windows and four sets of doors. The Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere has been restoring the property for almost a decade.

"Casa Belevedere is a gem on Staten Island. And and we want to improve the image of Staten Island and really make this a location to come and enjoy," said James Paone wh ois Casa Belvedere's Director of Operations.

Foundation staff expect the window and door restoration project to be completed this fall.
