STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The former New York City Police Department offficer who was fired for putting Eric Garner in a chokehold has lost his bid to get his job back.

A state supreme court denied an appeal by Daniel Pantaleo.

Back in 2014, a Staten Island grand jury declined to indict any officers in Garner's death.

Federal civil rights prosecutors also declined to bring a case against Pantaleo.

He was fired in 2019 after a police departmental trial.
