DADE CITY, Fla. – Florida’s new snow park, Snowcat Ridge, has adjusted its hours after it “misestimated” the amount of snow it needed.

What You Need To Know

Snowcat Ridge, which opened to the public on Friday, shared an update over the weekend that it was making changes to address the snow volume issue inside its Arctic Igloo, an indoor play area where visitors can build snowmen.

“Since opening, we have had an overwhelming amount of interest and guests at the park to the extent that we misestimated the amount of snow production which was required to allow larger number of kids (and adults) to play in the snow inside the Arctic Igloo,” the park wrote in a Facebook post.

Snowcat Ridge said hours at the park would be limited so it could concentrate on snow production and ensure the Arctic Igloo “remains fully operational.”

The Arctic Igloo was temporarily closed to visitors on Saturday and reopened the following evening, according to the park’s Facebook post.

The rest of the park, including the Alpine Village and its 60-foot tall, 400-foot long tubing hill, are open.

For those who purchased tickets for times that are no longer available, Snowcat Ridge said tickets will be automatically refunded, although it could take up to 10 days to process.
