The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for Lee Bassett, 30, of North Port, who is accused of fleeing the scene of a crash.

Troopers said two vehicles collided on US 41 Friday night around 11 p.m., causing one person to receive serious injuries. 

Bassett was traveling northbound on US 41 in a Ford F150 when the vehicle overtook and collided with the rear of a Chevy Trailblazer. 

The impact caused the driver of the Chevy to lose control and the vehicle left the roadway and overturned. 

Troopers said Bassett then fled the scene on foot. 

The driver of the Chevy and two passengers received minor injuries in the crash. A third passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. 

Troopers said Bassett is a habitual traffic offender and is considered wanted by the Florida Highway Patrol. Anyone with information is asked to call FHP at 813-558-1800.
