ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Thursday into Friday morning, with a look at conditions heading into next week.

  • Hot Friday
  • Mainly dry Saturday
  • Showers move in Sunday

High clouds will continue streaming across our skies but not play a significant role in our sensible weather here on the ground.

Morning lows will be mainly in the 60s, with some upper 50s in Citrus and Hernando counties.

Dry conditions with low humidity will persist into Friday, but moisture is on the way this weekend.

For Friday, expect another comfortable morning, but a hot afternoon with highs in the low 90s. Dry air will still dominate, so the evening will be nice with temperatures dropping into the 60s into Saturday morning.

There will still be high clouds passing overhead, but they won’t play a big role in our weather.

Saturday will be partly cloudy and warm, with highs in the upper 80s to near 90. There is a small 10 percent chance of a shower late in the afternoon to evening, but most of the area will remain dry.

Sunday is when we expect more moisture to move in, with higher rain chances coming in to the area.

With the latest data, we’re seeing the highest rain chance will come in that afternoon to evening. That will lower our highs to the mid 80s.

The best rain coverage will be Sunday night into Monday as an upper low drifts directly overhead.

That will keep the highs below average near 80.

Even though the low will then slowly pull away, it will leave behind a lot of moisture. Therefore we still expect lingering scattered shower and storm chances into Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week.
