ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, along with a look at conditions into early next week.

  • Heat rolls on
  • P.M. thunderstorms
  • Breeze from the east

A few scattered storms will eventually die down, with skies clearing into early Thursday morning.

Lows will again be very muggy, stopping in the upper 70s to low 80s near the coast and low to mid 70s inland.

Thursday will start with mostly sunny skies, going partly cloudy in the afternoon with a 40 percent coverage of scattered storms. Highs will reach the low to mid 90s.

A few storms will linger into the evening. They will tend to drift westward back toward the coast.

After the storms end skies will clear Thursday night, with lows in the 70s.

Friday will feature fewer storms as a slug of drier air comes across the state.

We only expect about a 20 to 30 percent coverage of afternoon to evening storms. However, the ones that form will all move west toward our side of the state and out toward the Gulf of Mexico in the evening.

Highs will again be in the low to mid 90s.

Moisture will then increase this weekend, with the rain chance back up to 40 percent Saturday and 50 percent Sunday. The scattered storms will mainly be in the late afternoon to evening both days, and they will all have a westward movement toward the gulf each evening.

Highs both days will still be in the low to mid 90s.

The rain chances will drop back down to about 30 percent next Monday and stay that way through next Wednesday, due to slightly drier air in the atmosphere.

Highs will be in the low 90s.
