A man was charged with DUI after hitting a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office transport van overnight in Largo.

Deputies said G4S Driver Officer Michael Hanson was stopped in a Sheriff's Office transport van at a red light at Ulmerton Road and U.S. 19 when he was rear-ended around 12:30 a.m. 

According to the report, Mark Foster, 57, failed to see Officer Hanson stopped at the red light and hit the back of the transport van with his Toyota Corolla. 

There were no prisoners in the transport van at the time of the crash and Officer Hanson was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. 

Deputies said Foster showed many signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence with injury/property damage. 

Foster a BAC level of .143/.154, according to the report. 

The crash remains under investigation.
