TAMPA, Fla. — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death in the backyard of a Tampa home, according to Hillsborough County deputies.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the man was found at the back on a home on the 6000 block of 43rd Street after authorities received a call that shots were fired.

A Sheriff's Office spokeperson said moments later, Tampa Police Department took a 911 call from a man who claimed to be involved in the shooting. He is reportedly cooperating with investigators, though HCSO says they don't know yet how exactly he is involved.

Investigators say they are working to get a search warrant for the man's home and vehicle, and to process the scene.

They're also in the process of interviewing witnesses, but they encourage anyone else with information to call the Sheriff's Office. 

The man killed has not yet been identified. Deputies say they believe the man shot and the suspected shooter knew each other.

According to a HCSO spokesperson, there is no public danger.
