ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Right on cue, we had more scattered storms today than we’ve seen in a while.
But as usual in our climate, it was feast or famine with some areas getting tons of rain while others remained totally dry. That will be the case moving forward the next few days.

Any scattered storms tonight will die down with clearing skies into early Wednesday morning. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s.
Wednesday will start with mostly sunny skies followed by building clouds and another round of scattered storms. The coverage will be at about 30 percent.
Highs will reach the low to mid 90s before the storms kick in to help cool things down.
Keep in mind we’re now in the time of year where the storms can be very heavy with tons of lightning, but there will also be many areas that don’t see a single drop of rain. As we say every year, these things work themselves out over the course of the entire summer, not in just a day.
The good news is we expect more scattered storms this week and even better coverage.

Thursday will feature a 40 percent coverage of afternoon to evening scattered storms.
Moisture will increase with scattered storms more prevalent Friday as the coverage increases to 50 percent.
This weekend will be a typical summer weekend, with afternoon scattered storms mixed with partly sunny skies in between. Highs will not be quite as hot though, as we’ll have an onshore breeze, so expect highs to stop around 90.
The moisture will continue with scattered storms in the 40 to 50 percent range all the way into Monday.
