ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Two brothers have been arrested and charged in connection with a weekend shoot-out in a St. Petersburg convenience store parking lot.

At least six men were in the parking lot at the Food Max at 1400 18th Avenue South around 5 p.m. Sunday when gunfire broke out, according to St. Petersburg police.

Officers said 31-year Darrell Simmons Jr. suffered critical injuries in the shooting and remains hospitalized

The entire incident was captured on surveillance video.  

Police said Antonio Ruffin, 38, fired multiple shots. He is facing attempted homicide charges. His brother Eric Ruffin, 36, was charged with principal to attempted homicide.

The video captured Antonio Ruffin standing in the open door of a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck, with a toolbox in the bed, and hauling a white trailer, police said. At least six people were in the parking lot, where several other vehicles were parked when the shooting started and the people in the parking lot scatter.

The man with the gun, allegedly Antonio Ruffin, moved toward the front of the truck, continuing to fire shots. It is not clear who was the intended target.

The brothers were booked into the Pinellas County Jail and are expected to make a first appearance before a judge on the charges on Tuesday.
