ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Scattered storms will die down overnight with clearing skies into Tuesday morning.

Lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Tuesday will start mostly sunny with some clouds building in the afternoon. Again, the rain chance will be very low with only about a 20 percent chance in the afternoon to evening.

The winds will again be blowing from the east, which means our sea breeze won’t help to cool us down. Expect highs again in the mid 90s with a heat index well above 100.

Ever since Hurricane Dorian passed, drier air was pulled down into our atmosphere and that’s contributing to the very low rain chances.

Wednesday will be a repeat, with dry air dominating and a wind from the east.

Expect it to be hot with just a 20 percent coverage of afternoon storms.

After that point, moisture will start increasing in the atmosphere as a tropical wave will pass by. That will help to increase our rain chances from late week into the weekend.

We’re watching multiple tropical waves in the Atlantic, but the good news is none of them are developing quickly and don’t pose a threat to the U.S. at this time.
