PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating the discovery of a body in a burned vehicle in Holiday Friday afternoon.

The vehicle was located in the woods east of Baillies Bluff Road near Key Vista Nature Park.

During the investigation, deputies responded to a home on Mayfield Drive in Port Richey in an effort to question a man about the first crime scene in Holiday, according to a Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

That man, 21-year-old Michael Joseph Psilakis Jr. reportedly became combative with deputies, who then arrested him on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Deputies responded and found Psilakis driving a stolen vehicle.

Inside of the vehicle was a stolen 9mm handgun, authorities said. When they tried to take him into custody, he fought the two deputies, resulting in the battery and resisting arrest charges. After he was in handcuffs, he tried to run, resulting in the escape charge.

Psilakis' charges also include theft of a firearm, delinquent in possession of a firearm, vehicle theft, resisting arrest with violence and escape.

The identity of the body found in the vehicle has not been released. Authorities have also not revealed how they found the burned vehicle in the first place.

The investigation is ongoing.
