ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg police have arrested two people it says have been vandalizing parking meters around town.

And social media may have played a role in finding them.

Nick Windholz, 34, and Kiersten Lyons, 32, have been taken into custody and are facing various charges. They are being held on a $5,000 bond each.

Windholz has not claimed responsibility to the vandalism, in which someone used spray foam sealant three separate times to damage the meters.

At least 70 meters were damaged.

According to police, several Facebook posted related to the vandalism were made by Windholz.

On Oct. 26, he posted about the vandalism, saying "(I) hope this goes viral and we get tons of copycat activists."

Other posts, as recently as Nov. 8 on the Group page Anonymous Florida, said "Foamgate 2019" and the comments spread from there.

Police said the stunt has caused thousands of dollars in damage.

Both Windholz and Lyons are facing felony criminal mischief charges.
