TAMPA , Fla. — Two people were killed early Sunday in a wrong-way driver crash on the roadway entrance into Tampa International Airport.

According to Tampa police, the two-vehicle crash was caused by a wrong-way driver. 

The two people killed were in the same vehicle. The suspect is in custody and facing two counts of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

One vehicle ended up on its side along the roadway. A Tampa Police forensics team was among the crews that responded to the scene.

The airport entrance from Interstate 275 was closed for several hours. The entrance was reopened around 10 a.m.

No further information has been released about the victims or the suspect.
