TAMPA, Fla. — The organization Rise Against Hunger is making it their quest to end world hunger, and using volunteers around Tampa Bay to achieve that.

Thursday night, the organization joined forces with employees from HCI Group Inc. and made 11,000 meals in 90 minutes.

"Knowing we made 11,000 meals in about an hour for hungry people around the world is just great," says volunteer Chuck Newton.

Organizer Tony Conicello says the meals made Thursday will feed over 50 children for the whole year.

"This feeding program goes primarily to schools, orphanages and hospitals," says Conicello. "It makes me happy, knowing they are getting what they need to survive."

Rise Against Hunger hopes to send more than 90 million bags of food by the end of the year.

"I hope this inspires others to see that it doesn't take much effort to volunteer," says Conicello. "Take a few hours out of your day to make a difference."
