HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. -- Four people were injured in a boat explosion Saturday morning at a boat ramp located at 4483 Calienta Street.

​​According to the sheriff's office, five people were onboard the boat tied up to a dock, when one person tried to start the motor and it ignited a fire. 

“We’re out on the road directing some boat traffic, turned around and heard an explosion,” dock master Louis Salvadeo said.

Officials said out of the four people hurt, two juveniles were airlifted to a local hospital. They seem to be all non-life threatening injuries, but some have burn injuries. 

Hernando County deputies and fire rescue are still investigating what happened.
