Young cancer survivors who have become known as the Tutu Girls recently held their 5th annual reunion.

Usually filled with hugs and games, the tradition went virtual in 2020 because of COVID-19.
Chloe Grimes, 7, Avalynn Luciano, 6, McKinley Moore, 7, and Lauren Glynn, 7, met when they were all undergoing undergoing cancer treatment at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
Now known as the Tutu Girls, they hold a reunion every year to celebrate life and the friendship that helped them fight cancer.
Every year, they dress in tutus and share an inspirational message.
The virtual reunion included girl talk about, friendship, hairstyles, pets, and losing teeth. They also expressed how much they missed each other and wanted hug one another.
The online meeting didn't stop them from their annual photo. This year, each girl took a separate photo spelling out the word HOPE.

"Their bond is super tight and they just get tighter and talk about things like their ports and just other stuff that other kids have no idea, and their bond is something that is very special that they share and they always will,” said Karen Moore.
Three of the girls have completed treatment and continue to do well. Lauren had a recurrence in 2018 and has been undergoing additional cancer treatment over the last two years. She recently had a second bone marrow transplant and is in remission and doing well.
McKinley says next year she hopes they can reunite in person to hug and play ring around the rosie.
