ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Back in late November, the new St. Petersburg Pier was shortlisted in USA Today’s 10Best nationwide competition for “Best New Attraction 2020.”

What You Need To Know

  • The St. Petersburg Pier took second place in a national poll of new attractions for 2020

  • The poll was taken by USA Today, and the public voted for the winners

  • Colorado Springs' U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Musieum took top honors

Well, the verdict is in, and while the Pier didn’t take the top spot—that honor went to Colorado Springs’ U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum—it did come in second, beating out other new spots from all around the country.

The only other Florida attraction on the original list of 20 contenders, the Classic Car Museum of St. Augustine, unfortunately didn’t make the final cut of 10Best’s, um, 10 best. That top 20 was chosen by the editors of 10Best—a listicle-heavy site that spotlights everything from food to theme parks all over the world—along with a “panel of experts.” The final 10 were chosen by popular vote, which means the ultra-modern St. Pete Pier has quite a few fans out there who were willing to shout out in support.
