PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — On National "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" the nation remembers those who served during the war. For weeks a community in Pasco County had been planning a special surprise for veterans at Baldemero Lopez Veterans Nursing home.

Videos from students, 100 letters and 150 hand-sewn bears were collected.

All done to simply say thank you to Veterans like John Balazs.

"We’re so grateful to be able to honor you guys. This is all from Seasons Hospice and the Pasco Community," said Manager Julie Sanchez to Balazs, who teared up as he took it all in.

“You got to forgive me, I’m very sensitive," said Balasz. “This is so beautiful."

Surrounded by his caregivers and holding an item especially made for him, it’s a day he says he won’t soon forget.

"There is such a thing called tears of joy," Balazs said with tearfully. " I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to serve in the Military.”
