HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Two Hillsborough County beaches have been closed until further notice due to a growing red bloom, according to officials.

In a news release on Friday, the Hillsborough County officials stated Apollo Beach Nature Preserve and E.G. Simmons Conservation Park have shut down the beach areas due to public health concerns.

The rest of the parks will remain open, except for the hiking trail at Apollo Beach because it can be used to get to the beach.

The county says workers will be removing dead fish from the beaches over the coming days.
