Investigators discovered that a silver or white sedan traveling northbound had, for unknown reason, departed the highway and entered the east shoulder of the road. The vehicle collided with a traffic sign, re-entered the highway, entered the shoulder a second time and collided with the 49-year-old woman who was walking along the grass shoulder. Suffering fatal injuries at the crash scene, the impact severed the victim, with her torso left upon the shoulder and lower extremities propelled into the travel lanes of US-301.

While still investigating the fatal crash, FHP Troopers and Pasco Sheriff’s Deputies observed a silver 2005 Chevy pickup traveling northbound directly at them at high speed.

Andrew Thomas Krummen, 23, drove directly at investigators, ignored commands to stop, ran over the victim's legs and fled. Troopers chased him and used a maneuver with a patrol car to force him to stop, the highway patrol said.

Two passengers in Krummen's pickup truck — a 33-year-old Brooksville man and 35-year-old Dade City woman — tried to flag down troopers and exit the vehicle, the highway patrol said.

Krummen was arrested and charged with with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, DUI, fleeing and eluding, destruction of evidence, driving while license revoked and false imprisonment.

It was the eighth time he's been arrested in Pasco County in less than four years, according to jail records.
