Speaking Wednesday in Tampa, DeSantis accused big financial corporations of discriminating against people for their political and social beliefs.

He mentioned organizations ranging from banks and credit card companies to online payment apps like PayPal and Venmo.

Representatives from Moms for Liberty told their story about how they had more than a quarter million dollars in donations frozen by PayPal.

The governor said those kinds of actions directly affect regular people more than anyone.

"The thing about the politicization of the economy in this way, it benefits the largest, most powerful corporations, where it disadvantages the small- and medium-sized businesses,” DeSantis said. “So this is not something that is sort of empowering the little guy. This is something in many respects that is crushing the little guy."

The governor's proposal says it will aim to prohibit companies from making discriminations against customers for any religious, political, or social beliefs.
