As November comes to a close, the month recorded above normal rainfall and above normal temperatures. This follows a cooler and drier-than-normal October.  


What You Need To Know

  • Rainfall was 4 times the normal amount for the month

  • Temperatures were above normal

  • Most of the month's rain came from Nicole

The month started very warm, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s and 70s for the first eight days of the month. The hottest temperature recorded in Tampa was 90 on the 2nd. 

Nicole brought cooler temperatures and rain for part of the second week of the month. It brought 3.22 inches of rain to Tampa on the 10th and 11th. Additional rain throughout the month brought the total to 5.14 inches for November.

For perspective, the climatological normal rainfall for Tampa in November is 1.28 inches. So even outside of Nicole, we saw more rain than a typical November.

A string of chilly days around the third week of the month kept November from being much above average. The coolest high temperature was 61 degrees on the 20th. The coolest low temperature was that same morning at 52 degrees. 

High temperatures averaged near 80 degrees for the month, with the typical average November high is 79. Nights and mornings were warmer than normal, because of higher-than-normal humidity and cloud cover. 

Our average low this month was over 65 degrees, but this is typically around 61. 

Other cities across the area saw a similar pattern throughout the month. St. Petersburg saw a November average high of 78 degrees (1 degree above normal) and an average low of 67 degrees (2 degrees above normal).

Rainfall was just shy of 3 inches, over double the November normal. Bradenton and Lakeland also saw a near normal average high for the month, but above average lows and rainfall.
