The name has been in place since 1956.

Some neighbors complained the name is racist.

After a long process, their efforts came to fruition.

"I'm so glad the name has been changed. The name will be changed. It was a wonderful experience. I'm just so glad that the council saw our needs and did what was right," said resident Carrie Bardwell.

Now, the city is tasked with selecting the new name.
