NORTH CAROLINA – A nonprofit organization's emergency homeless shelter operating out of the Greensboro Sportsplex is now full.

The Interactive Resource Center has been working with the city of Greensboro and Cone Health to keep everyone at the shelter healthy.

Nobody can leave except for essential appointments, such as drug or alcohol treatments, or doctor appointments.

The IRC's executive director says while this is serving an urgent need now, those involved are working to find alternatives to large shelters, something agencies all over are trying to avoid.

Cone Health nurses and medical assistants are screening guests and staff every day for signs of illness.

With no room left at the shelter, the IRC is distributing masks and tents to anyone still on the streets.
