WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A North Carolina activist is making an impact in his community.

Frankie Gist, the founder of Hope Dealers Outreach, is dedicated to being an advocate for civil rights and social justice.

This month, his organization is hosting a hygiene drive to help those in need.

"In this walk with activism, I learned there’s a time where we all need to take accountability," Gist says.

This summer, Gist helped lead peaceful protests across Winston-Salem. The city honored him with the Martin Luther King Jr. Young Dreamers Award, for being an advocate and resource for the margin.

“There is a need for people to bring back love, peace, and unity back into the community," Gist says. "So, that's my goal as an activist.”

Hope Dealers Outreach has hygiene drive drop-off locations at CycleBar, Moji Coffee, and Downtown Bodega in Winston-Salem.
