RALEIGH -- One person has been taken to the hospital after a fire at WRAL's station in Raleigh on 2169 Western Boulevard.

The building was evacuated around 7:40 p.m. as multiple fire trucks and ambulances were on scene.

According to anchors Debra Morgan and Gerald Owens, who went on Facebook Live after the evacuation, the fire started on an upper floor, and an employee who tried to put out the fire was transported.

WRAL confirmed Friday night that the employee, engineer Chris Cormier, suffered smoke inhalation and was only taken to the hospital as a precaution.

WRAL's program, HighSchoolOT Live, was suspended during the evacuation.

Employees have since been allowed back in the building, and news production has resumed.

There is no word on what may have caused the fire.
