MOORE COUNTY, N.C. -- Samantha Davis, a 17-year-old senior at Union Pines High School, collapsed while running in Charlotte on Saturday morning.

Davis, who was also a member of the school's marching band, was running in the Hare and Hounds Invitational cross country event.

According to family members, she was taken to Novant Presbyterian Medical Center.
