To some this full moon will have a special significance, to others it will be a cool coincidence. Consider this; In numerology, the number 12 is related to completion, perfection, motivation, achievement and independence. The number 12 has unique significance throughout the world. For instance, there are 12 months of the year, 12 zodiac signs and a day is made up of two 12-hour periods.

While that's technically still December 11th for much of the United States, people in the Eastern Time Zone will be treated to the full moon on December 12 at 12:12 a.m. That includes us right here in the Carolinas. According to the Farmers' Almanac, this full moon is known as the "Midwinter Full Moon". The Farmers' Almanac further explains, "The midwinter full moon has a high trajectory across the sky, causing it to sit above the horizon for a longer period of time.". A fitting description for a moon also known as the "Long Night's Moon". The name comes from this being the final full moon of the lunar cycle this year, and of the decade.

The "Long Night's Moon" also known as the "Cold Moon" occurs during the time where many feel Winter really begins. Thursday's full moon is occurring as the winter solstice nears which brings longer, darker, and cooler nights.
