DURHAM, N.C. — "The Scrap Exchange" in Durham held a grand re-opening Saturday for its Cameron Gallery.

The Durham non-profit takes people's donated scraps and sells it to aspiring artists for a discounted price.

Now, the re-imagined Cameron Gallery will give more artists in the community a chance to show off and even sell their waste-recovery inspired works of art.

"We've had the Cameron Gallery in this space for a lot of years, but we were only able to showcase one artist at a time or maybe two together. This way we can showcase at least 20 artists every single month and in a larger space dedicated to the arts," said Laura Nicholson, the executive director of "The Scrap Exchange."

Last year, 1.7 million pounds of waste were donated to "The Scrap Exchange."
